25th, April '08 -- So, after destroying the side-table by trying to fix or create a working word counter, I gave up on fixing it and went with this lovely top table box. Hopefully it won't explode on my like the last one. Taking staff aplications as soon as we hit 25 members, and plot discussion will begin once the packs have been established. <3 Asia, Admin 24th, April '08 -- I think the site is moving pretty well. Three hundred years into the future, and civilization has collapsed on itself. Man killed man until there was no man left to kill, and then the animals re-inherited the earth that was always theirs. By five hundred years from the present, there was no trace of their pollution except boats dying in the depths of the ocean, and their non-working satelites dancing in the atmosphere. In a place blessed Algernon, nature comes anew. Four wolf packs are rising from the ashes in this peaceful land, a gathering of the canines who feast on deer, elk, boar, horse, and bison. New diseases and future invasions struggle on the doorstep to Algernon, the new Eden, but for now peace reigns. Come and join paradise before hell invades again.

Lands of Algernon
Eloquencia Beautiful old trees thrust their aged limbs toward the sky, while their roots sink deep into loamy soil. In most areas of the forest, sunlight trickles down in a fairty tale effect, creating highlights and making the most normal occurance rare chances of beauty. In few areas, the trees grow darker as their limbs claw at one another, creating a constant dreary gloom. Small prey thrive, as do small predators such as fox and badgers who are dangerous to young wolves. A small and elusive herd of deer roam somewhere in its depths.
Lithetica A generally untroubled area that is bordered on most sides by tall black pines, Lithetica is often thought of as one of the safest places in all of Algernon. Some also think it to be like a dream, shimmering in and out of reality with the dawn and dusk. Lush grasses wave nearly all year round, with tiny, multicolored flowers making their cameo appearances in the warmer months. A winding creek dances straight through the place, eventually branching off to the greater river and beyond. Small prey can be found throughout, though it is far from enough to sustain a pack and is a large reason why this seemingly surreal terrain remains here as neutral ground.

Helvegar There are several entrances to this mysterious place littered about Algernon, for the area called Helvegar actually has an enormous span below the surface. From the mouth of those caves one can peer down into the gloom and get but a glimpse of the complex and varying network of tunnels that make it up. Moisture lines every wall and the tedious sound of dripping water constantly echoes off of them. Very little light is able to find its way down to such depths and so predators must rely even more on their keen senses to maneuver. Many loners find it pleasant, however, because of the cool temperatures and secretive feel. Beware still, for many a bearing has been lost within this web.

Briarrose The mouth of the greater river is located here, at a beach called Briarrose. Briarrose is not like the sunny beaches that come to mind. It is bordered with jagged cliffs plunging straight the into icy cold ocean below. These cliffs are home to sea birds that nest in the shallow crevaces in the cliff-face's black stone. There are small stretches of sandy beach, but they are littered with sea rocks and all manner of things washed up from the depths of the ocean. The waves are the cause of this, as they pound the shores relentlessly, dragging back with them any who should be foolish enough to bathe in their waters. Atop the cliffs is a thin layer of bitter grass - it doesn't hold much desire by deer who are rare in these parts. Along with this, the cliffs are fragile and broken - and one centimetre would send the unfortunate wolf plunging into the violent waves below. A few nimble of foot come here to attempt hunting sea bids or their eggs.
Mt. Fenrisulfr One of the oldest places in Algernon, this mountain is literally falling apart. The general look of it is gray and rough, with the only scenery being large boulders that jut out and the smaller stones that support them. Rockslides are quite common and frequent, so one must always watch their step. There are some sparse weeds and other anemic plant growth where the smallest of canine prey make their homes, but for the most part it is quite bare. Swarms of serpents also reside here, having taken to sunbathing on the warm rocks, though it would be wise not to try your luck with them since they are venomous.
